So many people don't know where to start when it comes to buying and eating "clean foods"
My advice is stick the to the BASICS, eat what you Grammy ate. Garden fresh, fruit stand fresh, rotten in a couple days to week FRESH. If those packaged brownies and pop tarts can sit on your pantry shelf for months at a time, why would you want to throw that into your belly? They are induced with chemicals and artificial flavorings that APPEAR as food. Yes a treat here and there is not harmful, I LOVE candy (mostly chocolate) but I don't eat it every day. I like to take 1-2 cheat MEALS (again MEALS not DAYS) out of the week to enjoy something sweet and savory.
Here is a sample of my typical grocery list...
(I add/subtract according to what I have or am sick of)
Chicken Breasts
Lean Ground Turkey
Broccoli
Asparagus
Almond Milk
Rolled Oats
sweet potato
Cream of Rice
Strawberries
Salad/Spinach
Whole carrots
Tomatos
Whole Wheat pasta
Grapefruit
Cumcumber
banana
EGGS
Looking at this List you might think, holy cow! how am I going to not only cook but eat all this before it goes bad?
MEAL PLAN! Just like your mom planned dinners for you growing up... plan meals for yourself throughout the day...Lunch, Snacks, Dinner.
I LOVE to eat, My husband likes to joke that I am a little over half his size and eat more than he does but yet stay tiny.
My secret: I eat to fuel my body with the right nutrients, keep my metabolism going and work hard in the gym, on my bike, on my runs or in the pool.
A little something I love to share with people who are curious about eating healthier...This "Tops Ten's" list not only helped me start my healthy lifestyle but I still use it on a weekly basis to keep me on track.
Stay hungry my friends ;)
